Military Resettlement (British, Australian & Canadian Armed Forces)

Trojan Securities have and continue to provide the Military Armed Forces Resettlement Training for the services personnel leaving the Armed Forces, British, Australian & Canadian.

British Resettlement Introduction

Private or general…. Every soldier has to return to Civvy Street one day and every Service Leaver is eligible to a resettlement package to help make that move. What you can expect depends on how many years you have served.

Every unit has a resettlement officer (URO) and clerk. They can give you information on your eligibility and what is available. Very often, but not always, the URO is also the Regimental Career Management Officer (RCMO). Other people who can help are the Service Leavers Support Teams based in Brigades.

Individual Education and Resettlement Officers (IEROs) are based in your local AEC. They give advice on resettlement and help you decide the best package that suits your need. They also authorise payment of your Individual Resettlement Training Costs (IRTC) grant. They will tell you about the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) (www.ctp.org.uk). IEROs will tell you where to get information about finance and housing (Financial Aspects of Resettlement (FAR)) Joint Service Housing Advice Office (JSHAO).

The Career Transition Partnership have new career counselling, workshops, a training programme and help you with work attachments and assistance with job finding. You will have your own Career consultant, who can give you help for up to 2 years after you leave.

Eligibility

Everyone, with the exception of Early Service Leavers, can ask for advice from Unit resettlement staff or IEROs at any stage in their career. Soldiers in their last 2 years of service have to attend a resettlement briefing and officers are strongly advised to attend.

Graduated Resettlement Time (GRT)

GRT applies to all service personnel who joined on or after 1 Apr 94. Personnel serving prior to 1 Apr 94 are eligible for GRT, (once you have served 16 years your GRT is an entitlement). They may, however, prefer to use the "Old" Resettlement Provision as detailed at Annex B. This information sheet is considered suitable for reproduction locally in Unit/Garrison Newsletters.
